In Search of Mrs. Pirandello

The FCCI organized an original theatre event which took place on Thursday, January 14th, 2016 during the Centaur Theatre’s Wildside Festival, Italian-Canadian emerging artist Michaela Di Cesare’s play had an all Italian cast who were In Search of Mrs. Pirandello.

Governors and friends joined us at the Centaur Theatre for an experience unlike any other as Di Cesare’s research unearthed a little known side of Italian history. Luigi Pirandello, one of Italy’s most treasured Sicilians, renowned innovator of 20th century theatre, and Nobel Prize winning author, had a dark secret. How did he write madness so well? That secret was Maria Antonietta Portulano, his wife.

The play was followed by a cocktail dînatoire and a meet and greet with the cast and crew at Restaurant Bonaparte. Part of the evenings proceeds will benefit the archives of the Casa d'Italia.
