Membership Features & Benefits

As a Governor of the Canadian-Italian Community Foundation you become part of a tight knit community of like-minded business people and professionals.

The FCCI gives generously to organizations that value Health, Education, Italian Language and Culture as well as Social Causes, the four pillars of the Foundation’s philanthropic mission. By becoming a member of the FCCI, you will personally contribute to these very important causes within the community. FCCI takes the time and effort to identify worthy causes. We do the work of “giving” for you. And you can feel confident that your donations are being granted effectively.

Here are some examples of the organizations that we support:

In 2011, the FCCI contributed $25,000 towards the purchase of specialized equipment for the Otolaryngology Department at the McGill University Health Center. The specialized equipment has provided a higher quality of care for patients suffering from head and neck cancers.

For the past 10 years, The FCCI has taken part in the Canadian-Italian Business and Professional Association’s Scholarship Program. This program has helped many Italian-Canadian students who have demonstrated strong academic achievements. In 2011, the FCCI contributed $10,000 for four scholarships towards a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, a PhD and a merit Scholarship.

The FCCI participated as the main sponsor of the 18th Annual Italian Week in Montreal hosted by the National Congress of Italian-Canadians in Quebec. The Foundation has always been honoured to support the National Congress’ initiatives in promoting and safeguarding the interests of the Italian community. This week-long event celebrated the unique Italian experience through gastronomy, art, fashion and music. In 2011, the Foundation contributed $25,000 to run this week long festival, increasing awareness of the Italian culture, lifestyles and traditions of Italian-Canadians.

The FCCI contributed
$25,000 to Procure, benefitting its 5th edition of the March of Courage, a 5km walk around the magnificent tracks and paths of Ile-St-Helene, the contribution will allow the organization to inform the population as well as to help advance medical research in the fight against prostate cancer.

Being a member also gives you access to attend all of the fundraising Events hosted by the FCCI.

The FCCI Governors’ Ball is held in late October, with the newest members of the Foundation being introduced. The event prides itself on its delicious food, dancing, glamour and, of course, its fundraising achievement.

The FCCI Annual Golf Tournament takes place in June where governors and friends come together to play a competitive game of golf, mingle and delight participants’ gastronomical senses.

The Annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament is a night when governors and friends try their luck at winning for a cause. This event mingles chance and charity into one unforgettable game.

The Cento Miglia Car Rally takes place during the summer. This auto rally brings together automobile and design enthusiasts on a route through the streets of Montreal and surrounding areas.

The Annual Christmas Cocktail takes place in early December at the Leonardo da Vinci Center. In addition to being a small thank you to the Governors for their support, it is also at this time that the Foundation presents major donations to recipient organizations.

Governors maintain ties with the Italian community in Montreal by being regularly informed of events, shows, theater performances and a variety of other activities being held in the city.

Governors are provided access to many services offered at the Leonardo da Vinci Center. This centre encompasses a state of the art Sporting Club with the latest cardiovascular and hydraulics equipment, weights-stacked, plate machines, a cycling room, a multi-sport gymnasium, a bocce court, a variety of fitness classes and personal trainers. Conference rooms, courses and an array of other services are also offered.

The FCCI is grateful to have generous Governors contribute to the Foundation’s cause. The FCCI shows their appreciation by having each Governor’s name written on the Wall of Honour in the Piazza of the Leonardo da Vinci Center. A tax receipt is issued to Governors allowing them to claim their membership dues as a charitable deduction at the end of each year.
